LOKAL Re:Generative

A living journey across people, place and purpose.

Launching at Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW), 28 September 2025 to 5 October 2025

About LOKAL Re:Generative

Thailand and Southeast Asia are facing overlapping crises - environmental degradation, social inequality, and cultural erosion - yet most initiatives focus only on “sustainability,” without addressing the deeper paradigm of regeneration that restores vitality to people, communities, and ecosystems.

LOKAL Re:Generative addresses this by offering an 8-day immersive journey during Bangkok Climate Action Week, 28 September - 5 October 2025, exploring the emerging evolution from sustainability towards "regeneration" across sectors - whether academia, food systems, hospitality, design, finance, bioregions or agroforestry.

It combines research, dialogue, embodied practice, and site-based learning across seven locations: Museum Siam, College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU), Benchakitti Park, Tham-Me (ตามมี), Baan Tepa Culinary Space, The 66 Cottage, and Choktawee Agroforestry in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The project seeks to engage a curated group of 12 core participants alongside members of the public through talks, roundtables, and shared experiences, aiming to reach 200+ people in total. By weaving Thai culture and Southeast Asian wisdom into experiential learning, the program aims to shift perspectives from sustaining to regenerating, fostering both immediate community connections and long-term systemic change.

Our Approach

Our approach connects theory with lived experience, showing how regeneration can be applied in practice across key sectors: food systems, hospitality, finance, academia, and bioregions. The method builds on past experience - our team has facilitated story-driven learning journeys, climate dialogues, and community-based food culture programs that have successfully deepened understanding and inspired new collaborations.

While other organizations address sustainability in specific silos (such as renewable energy, conservation, or green finance), this project is distinct in its integrated, cross-sectoral approach rooted in Thai culture and Southeast Asian wisdom, and in curating a core group of 12 changemakers alongside wider public participation.

By weaving together cultural, ecological, and systemic perspectives, LOKAL Re:Generative goes beyond harm reduction to foster a shift in mindset and practice toward true regeneration.
